Event Description

The day before the annual open house we have a LOT of extra chores for setting up, so any extra help is greatly appreciated! This includes things like moving and setting up tables and chairs, folding t-shirts and sweatshirts, and anything else that comes up.

As a note, though I posted the time as starting at 12, you actually have a few volunteer options:

9-12 = Animal Chores

12 - 3 (or however long you can stay) = Setup

You can do one or the other, or both.

PSAS provides delicious vegan samosas for lunch to fuel our work!

If this is your first time volunteering at Poplar Spring, please print and fill out the liability waiver form and bring with you: http://www.animalsanctuary.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/PSAS-liability-waiver.pdf

All chores are outside and in barns, so wear appropriate attire - chore clothes, boots, sunscreen. Bring water to carry with you if needed. There are some snacks and drinks available for purchase in the gift shop as well. When arriving at the entrance to the sanctuary, the gate will be latched but not locked - unlatch the gate, drive through, and latch it again behind you. If there are several cars at once, the first car should unlatch and drive through, and keep going - the last car should latch behind them. As a note, though the sanctuary is only 35 miles outside of DC, a lot of that will be on small country roads. Please check google maps for an estimate on your drive time - it is usually accurate! Also, River Road is a very popular road with cyclists. Please pass safely and with courtesy.

If arriving in the morning for animal chores, we start with goats, so head there. If you are arriving in the afternoon for setup chores, we will be scarfing down samosas at the picnic tables.
