Event Description

If you're taking the train from the city, we will meet at Grand Central at 9:30am.

If you're driving, we will meet at the Arden Point Trailhead at 11:15/11:30am.

The Arden Point trail head is right off the Metro North train station parking lot, so access could not be easier, whether you are driving or taking the train. There are 3 blazed trails that connect in a number of locations, and will plan a route that is between 2 and 4 miles (tbd), with a max of about 4 hours. The trail is ranked as easy for both humans and fur babies, but as the leaves fall and with any possible moisture, it’s still a good idea to wear hiking boots or shoes that have grip on the bottom, as a couple hills do get slippery. There are hills and rocky sections, but none are very challenging. It’s a mix of forest, pasture, ruins, and even a section with a small bamboo forest. There are great views of the Hudson, old bridges, and West Point.

You’ll want to pack all of your food and beverages, as the town itself is very small, and almost a mile uphill from the station. Mid-hike, there is a wood balcony with great views, and seating for snacking and resting. S'mores, maybe?

This trail is easy, but the map is handy. You can order the paper version here, but also includes a link for the app, which includes this and many other maps to download:
