Join us for a lovely summer evening in Hoboken, including by the Hudson River. But first we'll have a tour and order from five vegan-friendly restaurants and dessert places -- all within a few blocks of each other in Downtown Hoboken.

HOW THIS MEETUP WILL WORK: Our group will meet in front of Doner Xpress (brand new and ALL VEGAN!) at 153 First Street (bet. Bloomfield & Garden Streets). We will order and eat, and from there we will tour the four other nearby vegan-friendly restaurants as well. (Two of the five are quick dessert places, so we are actually going to just three "real" restaurants, all extremely vegan-friendly). At our last restaurant stop we will be getting take-out only, and bringing our restaurant and dessert food from our last stop over to Pier A Park, with magnificent views of the Hudson River, and both the Lower Manhattan and Midtown Manhattan skylines. (The views from Pier A Park are comprehensive and breathtaking.) We will sit right by the water, as we eat the food from our last orders.

NOTE: OF THE FIVE RESTAURANTS ON OUR ITINERARY, ONLY DONER XPRESS IS FULLY VEGAN. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND. ALL OF THE OTHER RESTAURANTS SERVE MEAT AND DAIRY, SO BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ORDER.

STOP 1 - Doner Xpress (mostly Middle Eastern)

The first stop on our tour will be Hoboken's newest all-vegan restaurant, Doner Xpress. This place specializes in Middle Eastern food, and has a build-your-own ordering system and menu based mostly on ordering your food in a pita, a wrap, or a bowl. This all-vegan menu includes Falafel, Impossible Kebabs, and Walnut Chorizo as the main ingredient in your pita, wrap or bowl. Add to that, Hummus, Beet Hummus, or Mexi-Hummus. Additionally they have stews: Black Bean & Yams, Red Bean & Potatoes, and Lentils & Carrots. And three salads: Shepherd's Salad, Chickpeas Salad and Cabbage Salad. Also wonderful sauces, including Tahini, Hot Sauce, and hard-find vegan Tzatziki and Avocado Aioli. Instead of a sandwich or bowl, you can place a smaller order if you like, and choose from six mezzes, or side dishes of Moroccan Soup, Falafel, Rice and Beans.

We'll be making a full stop here (at Doner Xpress) and eating, mostly outside.

STOP 2 - Tony Boloney's (Italian)

Known for its excellent vegan-friendly menu of vegan pizza and vegan hero sandwiches, this New Jersey mini-chain is a favorite NJ vegan destination for many. While the restaurant has many vegan options, please keep in mind that they also serve meat and cheese. Be sure to specify that your order is vegan. Conveniently, they also serve vegan pizza by the slice, and the slices are enormous.

We'll be making a full stop here (at Tony Boloney's) and eating, mostly outside.

STOP 3 - Curry Up Now (Indian Street Food)

An "Indian Street Food" chain, Curry Up Now is a recent arrival in Hoboken, and has become a favorite stop of Neerav's. While not all vegan, they've got a very vegan-friendly menu, with many items marked "vegan" right on the menu.

AT OUR LAST RESTAURANT STOP, CURRY UP NOW, WE WILL BE GETTING TAKE-OUT ONLY, TO BRING TO PIER A PARK AND SIT AND EAT DIRECTLY BY THE HUDSON RIVER. WE WILL ALSO DIRECT YOU TO TWO NEARBY DESSERT PLACES WITH VEGAN OPTIONS: RITA'S ICES, and INSOMNIA COOKIES.
