Join us for a Wild, Edible & Medicinal Plant Walk!

Learn about the medicinal, nutritive, and edible herbs also called "weeds" growing in your back yard during this 3- hour herb plant walk and medicine-making workshop.

During this beginner’s class with Quinnie's Kitchen; Sankofa Back to Our Roots Series, and Sun Cloud Caravan. They will discuss the many uses of wild edible and medicinal herb plants as you walk the farm of Shamba Cultivating Grounds. Those new to foraging will be introduced to the benefits of using wild plants for food, medicine, the importance of native plants for biodiversity in your diet, ethically sustainable harvesting practices, and how to live off the land to increase food security.

Your Instructors

Quinnie Cook- Richardson with Quinnie's Kitchen and Sankofa Green Living Series loves to share her passion for wild edible plants as a food and medicine source. She teaches green-living lifestyle classes such as vegan food preparation, natural soap making, fermented foods, smudge sticks,herbal medicine making, and holistic living retreats just to name a few. She is also a Vegan Chef, Doula, Yoga Teacher, Reiki Master, Life Coach, and embraces living a life in harmony with nature. Jillian Taylor (JT) with Suncloud Caravan, is a herbalist, off-grid living resource, homesteader, and a fearless leader on the Appalachian Trail. She is a former member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy's Next Generation Advisory Council.

About Sankofa Green Living Series

Sankofa Green Living's goal is to offer events, classes and, training that builds community for people of color ( all are welcome) who are interested in the natural living lifestyle of our ancestors. We will reconnect to traditional homesteading practices, study the power of plants as food and medicine, and learn to live in harmony with the natural world.

The class will conclude with the creation of an herbal remedy and foraged treat*.

SAFETY:

To keep eveyone safe we will practice COVID-19 prevention best practices. You are responsible for social distancing. The hands on the section may be indoors and social distancing will be encouraged with mask-wearing as appropriate. We will have hand sanitizer and other cleaning supplies on hand to use as needed. If you are at high risk or have symptoms for COVID-19, we ask that you not attend this class.
