“Introduction to Macrobiotic Cooking” with Francois Roland
Learn the art of preparing natural foods for
health, balance, and vitality.
Second of four sessions:
These classes will cover basic methods for preparing simple, nourishing meals centered on whole grains, soups, vegetables, beans and fruits.
We will discuss the principles of balance and demonstrate cooking techniques that enhance the flavor and energy of natural foods. We’ll explain the healing qualities of various foods, condiments, and seasonings.
We will discuss meal balancing, utensils, time-saving tips, and more. A sample meal will be served after each class.
How to make delicious soups, whole grain and bean dishes, vegetables, and sea vegetables
Macrobiotic condiments, salads, and desserts
Waterless techniques, blanching, steaming, sautéing, etc.
How to use Japanese healing foods such as miso paste, naturally brewed soy sauce, kuzu starch, umeboshi pickled plums, shiitake mushrooms, daikon radish, etc.
Nutritional and healing properties of many natural foods
