Nearly half of New Yorkers are insulin resistant, living either with diabetes or prediabetes. Why is diabetes so prevalent, and can we do anything to prevent it or stop it in its tracks? While most healthcare providers may tell us that diabetes cannot be cured, the field of Lifestyle Medicine has demonstrated that we can put diabetes into remission -- and food is one of the most important tools for the job. Join Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and Plant Powered Metro New York to learn the exciting nutrition science behind the root cause of diabetes and its progression, and how you can take charge of your health to start healing at home, right away. Registered dietitian Gail Mayer, PPMNY Nutrition Educator, will address common myths in diabetes nutrition and the role of unprocessed plant foods in preventing, treating, and even reversing diabetes.

Registrants will receive details on the meeting point prior to the event. Event access is by donation or free to anyone unable to contribute.
