Event Description
Event hosted by Absaroka Realty Inc.
Canadian livestock company Friesen Foods is proposing construction of the largest meat processing plant ever built in Montana.  The proposed location is approximately 8 miles East of Great Falls.  According to the Great Falls Tribune,  this facility is projected to be a processing plant for cattle, pigs, chickens and dairy and would be built on over 3000 acres of cropland.  A projected 103,000 Lbs of solid waste is projected to be generated by the "Madison Food Park" daily.  Liquid waste is in addition to this figure and so far has not been addressed publicly according to my research.  Lagoons of animal waste have the potential to create a myriad of health and safety, as well as, nuisance issues.
Montana and many surrounding states have a strong history of farm and ranch production, but the current factory farm/multi species slaughterhouse practices offer little similarity to how our food system operated a generation ago.  In an attempt to shed light on current large production farming practices, we offer the behind the scenes documentary DOMINION to the public free of charge.  Using current drone and undercover photography, DOMINION seeks to expose these farm practices and allow the public a view into how their meat is produced.  The film illustrates common farm practices used in Australia and the United States and aims to present the facts about the ways animals are used and treated.
Please join us September 22nd 2018 at The Ellen Theater in downtown Bozeman for a showing of the Independent Aussie film, DOMINION as well as discussion and Q and A following.
