Come meet the resident alpacas, goats, donkeys, roosters and mini-cow and learn about why we have this refuge. The main mission of this open-house series is to educate people about the benefits of adopting a plant-based diet. What better way then to share a wide variety of vegan food options? This is why our menu changes every week. During the meal people are seated at long communal dining tables, so you are sure to make some new friends. You do not have to be vegan or even vegetarian to attend. There will also be live music during the event. After the meal you are welcome to enjoy the park-like property where you can meet the animals and explore the property.

On October 13th I plan to showcase wonderful autumn vegetables in a Moroccan Vegetable and Chickpea Tagine this will be served with whole wheat Couscous (or quinoa for gluten free folks). There will also be pita bread and two kinds of hummus to enjoy. For dessert we will offer a pastry that is called Almond Mhencha. These are serpentine shaped treats made with almond paste wrapped in filo dough, baked until crisp and then soaked in syrup, perfect with your last cup of coffee, or enjoy some of the hot or cold mint tea we will also have on hand. We will also have a traditional orange dessert on hand that is nut and gluten free.

October 27th. Let's have a Halloween Brunch! Please dress appropriately (costumes are not required, but wouldn't that be more fun?). For brunch we will have a big pot of delicious Chili with Pumpkin, served with Corn Bread and a Rainbow Salad. There will be Halloween Dirt Cake for Dessert.

There is always endless organic, fair-trade coffee, teas, and specialty lemonade or other beverage.

One child under 12 may attend for free with a paying adult. Children 2-12 are otherwise half-price -$7.50 Message us to let us know if you will be bringing a child who is eligible for a free admission. All proceeds help support the Dharma Farm Animal Refuge, a nonprofit microsanctuary. The ingredients are mostly organic. We try to buy local as well. The dishes are prepared by volunteers with a whole food plant-based diet is best approach, but sometimes there are also purely decadent vegan treats.

*Allergen, warning, alert: There are always "gluten-free" options, but gluten, soy, and nuts are all present onsite and so there is risk of possible allergen exposure. Also, the farm has many plants, insects, farm animals and various cats and dogs, as well as water and terrain features that may be potential hazards; by attending you acknowledge that you attend at your own risk. Please do not bring any pets.
