Join us every Monday for our FREE community hands-on nutrition and cooking classes. Please note: Class starts at 6.30pm. There is a strict no admittance after 7pm.
Purpose: To create behaviour change by teaching people how to cook so that they may prevent and reduce food waste in their homes and reduce their reliance on single use plastics by having the skills to prepare their own food.
- Learn how to cook from scratch hands-on in small groups. How to reduce processed and hyper processed foods from your diet.
- Improve your existing cooking skills and learn new recipes and healthy cooking techniques. No added fats used; how to cook with waters, added herbs and spices instead of reaching for that processed bottle of oil.
- Learn to plan your meals and save money on your grocery bills and reduce your food waste; the average household in the UK, with children, spends about £60 a month (that's £700 a year) on food that is never eaten. If we stopped wasting food in the UK, it would be the same as taking one out of four cars off the road.
- Improve your health by learning how-to adopt a diet centred around fruits, vegetables, beans & pulses and whole grains. Not just vegan, but low-fat vegan. Suitable for vegetarians, lactose intolerant and halal friendly.
- Watch mini evidence-based nutritional videos. Curricula is provided by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine | https://www.pcrm.org/
- This is a community event and your help is requested for washing up and cleaning up. As this too is a part of learning to cook and manage time.
- Community cohesion: Meet other people and reduce social isolation.
- Surplus produce donated to us by The Felix Project | http://thefelixproject.org/
***** Gentle reminder: No entry after 7pm ******
