Event Description
This event has been cancelled.

rawfoodcharlotte as it is posted on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/61818596079/ focuses on the health benefits of eating raw plants and fruits, and how to prepare them.

rawfoodcharlotte had meetings at Earth Fare in Ballantyne for several years. Now they meet in the Matthews Community Center on the third Thursday of every month at 9:30AM. I've posted it on Meetup, so more people can know about it. This group has interesting and educational meetings.

Usually someone demonstrates how to prepare a main dish, cold soup, juicies/smoothies, sprouting, or a dessert. Attendees share educational information, gardening tips, veg/herb seeds, and recipes.

Ron, assistant organizer of this Meetup group, posted this event so more people will know about the meeting and the information below about organic food, dairy products / the dairy industry, and soaking some nuts.

*The "Dirty Dozen + " (loaded with pesticides), so buy these Organic: apples, bell peppers, bluberries, celery, cucumbers, grapes, green beens, lettuce & leafy greens, nectarines, peaches, spinach, strawberries, corn to be sure it is Non GMO, and potatoes (except sweet potatoes which are low in pesticide) https://www.drweil.com/diet-nutrition/anti-inflammatory-diet-pyramid/foods-you-should-always-buy-organic/

*The Clean Fifteen (produce least likely to hold pesticide residues): avocados, pineapples, cabbage, frozen sweet peas, onions, asparagus, mangoes, papayas, kiwis, eggplant, grapefruit, cantaloupe, cauliflower and sweet potatoes. Relatively few pesticides were detected on these foods, and tests found low total concentrations of pesticides. https://www.drweil.com/diet-nutrition/anti-inflammatory-diet-pyramid/foods-you-dont-have-to-buy-organic/

Something I learned from attending: Be sure to soak raw nuts/seeds several hours in water to remove Phytic acid and neutralize enzyme inhibitors. http://foodmatters.tv/articles-1/the-benefits-of-soaking-nuts-and-seeds
