Event Description

JOIN US! as Animal Liberation, the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses, Sydney Animal Save and the Animal Justice Party NSW join forces against animal abuse.

The Championships is the biggest event on the Racing NSW autumn racing calendar. Horses will be referred to as champions whilst they are whipped, have their tongues tied and have spurs dug deep into their flanks, causing them tremendous fear, stress and pain and often leading to injury and even death. This blatant abuse must be called out! We need you to come along to help us do just that.

We are very happy to announce, the honourable Mark Pearson MLC will also be in attendance. The first Animal Justice Party representative to be elected to the NSW Parliament has recently introduced a bill amendment which, if passed, would outlaw the slaughter of racehorses and the use of instruments of cruelty, reducing the suffering of horses in NSW and setting a precedent for all other racing jurisdictions across the country.

Please come along and stand up against horse racing cruelty whilst showing support for this important legislation.

What to bring: friends, refreshments, protective items from the elements if required
What to wear: please dress smart casual at a minimum - dressing as though you are going to the races is encouraged.
Banners and posters will be provided.

Protest subject to permission.
