CORKY BANNER DISPLAY

SUNDAY, DEC. 8TH 11-3 PM, CRISSY FIELD, SF.

COMMEMORATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF CORKY’S CAPTURE.

BE THERE FOR A HIGH NOON PHOTO SHOOT.

Sunday forecast is now for dry, sunny day. Please come and bring friends and family, and help us lay out the Banner on the grass at Crissy Field. The Great Santa Run should be over by 10 am, and Old Mason St. to Crissy Field, is due to be re-opened by 10-30 am.

THE CORKY BANNER was made by children from around the world, and calls for Corky’s retirement from SeaWorld San Diego. We are preparing a Sea Sanctuary for Corky at Double Bay, Hanson Island, British Columbia, where she can be cared for and re-connect with her family pod. The Sanctuary should be ready by next summer, and a proposal will be presented to SeaWorld for Corky’s retirement to the Sanctuary at Double Bay.

On Dec. 11, 1969, the 4 year old orca, Corky, was captured with her pod in Pender Harbour, British Columbia, was taken from her mother, and transported to Los Angeles for a life of performing killer whale shows. She has survived 50 years in a concrete tank, and is the longest surviving captive whale in the world. She deserves to go home!

For more details call, Michael Reppy, 415 686-0529. And he will be there with the Banner to answer all questions.
Mike is a professional documentary person that worked with history channel. Most likely if it's not windy he might bring his drone to the event.
