We're almost finished with "White Like Me," by Tim Wise - "an examination of the way in which racial privilege shapes the daily lives of white Americans in every realm: employment, education, housing, criminal justice, and elsewhere." This book is somewhat of a departure from our usual animal/vegan subject matter, but we felt it was related through the Circles of Compassion we had read about in a previous book. And the subject matter of this book is certainly timely in view of recent events.

For this meeting we'll read two chapters: Chapter 7 - Home and Away, and Chapter 8 - Chocolate Pain, Vanilla Indignation.

If you want to make the commitment to read this book and you've read the chapters, we'd love to have you join us.

Our book club meets on the first and third Mondays of each month. It is important that everyone attending the meetup:

• Read the assigned chapters and come prepared to discuss them. Also, be sure you've read all the prior chapters.

• Arrive on time and stay until the meeting ends.

• Bring your book to the meeting.

The meeting will be held at the Open Secret Bookstore. At the present time, there is no food for sale there. If you bring food with you, please be sure not to leave anything behind. As with all Marin Vegan Events, any food brought to the meetup table must be completely vegan.
