Event Description
On Thursday, August 23rd, join The Humane League, Animal Equality, Mercy For Animals, and Compassion Over Killing for a peaceful protest against fast-food giant, McDonald's. We will march from Cloud Gate (where "the bean" sculpture is) to Rock & Roll McDonald's at 600 N Clark St, Chicago. We will start the march from Cloud Gate at 4pm, and start protesting as soon as we arrive at the McDonald's location. (approximately 30-40 minute walk). The protest will conclude at 6:30pm.
Dress Attire: Business/casual preferred, jeans, skirts, etc.
▪️ ABOUT OUR PROTEST:
No need to bring anything—we'll provide all the materials you need (posters and pamphlets)
Our protest style is professional and silent. We will line the public sidewalk outside of McDonald’s with alternating signs and maintain a serious composure as customers and tourists pass. We will have specific people on the ends of the protest line designated to answer any questions.
We will all be holding our signs level to each other with alternating images to maintain professionalism.
A volunteer or two will be leafleting with pamphlets about our campaign.
We'll have a photographer taking photos of the protest and we'll go on FB live during the event.
Things we legally cannot do (as a heads up): block the sidewalk so that it interferes with traffic.
Feel free to contact me with any questions at: [email protected]
▪️ABOUT OUR CAMPAIGN:
We are asking McDonald’s to publicly commit to a meaningful welfare policy for the chickens in their supply chain who currently have very few protections. Burger King, Starbucks, Chipotle, TGI Fridays, Red Robin, Subway, and other major restaurant chains have all adopted a meaningful welfare policy. The time is NOW for McDonald’s to do the same!

We sincerely hope you join the Chicago community for this peaceful demo which will greatly help MILLIONS of animals!
