Religion scholar and animal activist Marion Achoulias answers this question and more on our next webinar! We’re fortunate to interview Marion when she returns from the vegan monastery Blue Cliff (BCM) in Upstate New York as a newly ordained member of the Order of Interbeing established by Zen monk Thich Nhat Hanh, who encourages and promotes veganism.
Marion has taught undergraduate courses in ethics, psychology of religion, and women’s religiosity at Concordia University in Montreal. Her current focus is early Buddhist animal ethics. As co-founder of Kebek Animal Rights Association and co-organizer of the Montreal and Ottawa Marches to Close all Slaughterhouses, Marion enjoys discussing mindful activism, engaged spiritual practice, and embodied ethics with fellow activists.
Marion shares her intersectional approach to mindful activism on our next Vegan Spirituality Online Gathering on Thursday, September 14, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. PT (8 p.m. – 9 p.m. ET). Participate by phone or online with your hosts “Peace to All Beings” author Judy Carman and In Defense of Animals’ Sustainable Activism Campaign Director Lisa Levinson.
