Join Marlene Najera-Gonzalez for Food as Medicine: Fermentation Series. We will be learning about and how to ferment our own kombucha, beet kvass, sauerkraut, and Apple Cider Vinegar and the long history of fermented foods. We will be learning proper care of our cultures and walk through the process step by step. Everyone will be taking home a starter culture to start your own brew and ferments at home. We will be experimenting with flavors adding different herbs and fruits to our brews. We will have a guest speaker, local brewer of Kenkakshen Kombucha, serving a variety of samples to taste. Come out have fun and learn how to save money by home fermenting.

Fermentation series includes:
-Kombucha 101: Homebrewing w/ special guest Nov 6 @7:30- 8:45 pm

-Lacto-fermented Homemade sauerkraut Nov 20 @7:30-8:30 pm
-DIY Apple Cider Vinegar Nov 27 @7:30-8:30 pm

Interested one or two of these classes you can also pay a la carte $35.00 per class.

In these 4 interactive classes, you will be receiving starter cultures to take home. We will be working hands-on with each ferment experimenting with native flavors. You will learn the proper care and processing method to achieve yummy medicinal probiotic-rich foods from the comfort of your own home! Grow a closer connection to the foods you eat. Materials needed:
• Pen/paper

• Floor seating

• the following size jars would suffice. You can also reuse old jars

You can purchase at any store that sells ball, mason jars. This is needed for the hands-on 2nd fermentation process.

Stores like Walmart sells them in bulk. Or Michaels sells them in individuals. Also, check thrift shops.
