Event Description
Event hosted by Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. This is a free event.

Join Physicians Committee experts for another life-changing round of our free, eight-week nutrition class series on how a healthy, plant-based diet can help improve diabetes, blood pressure, and weight. New registrants are encouraged to attend throughout the series!

The class will be taught by Physicians Committee doctors Neal Barnard, MD, and Vanita Rahman, MD, in addition to Jenny Paul, MPH.

Physicians and community partners will provide practical tips, meal planning, and interactive Q&A in each class. Sixty-seven percent of previous class attendees looking to lose weight reported healthy weight loss during the class series, and 54% of class attendees with high blood pressure reported improvements. Take advantage of this free program today and receive access to live presentations and on-demand recordings!

This online series will take place through Zoom webinar, allowing you to ask questions in the chat box, answer poll questions, and engage with both presenters and attendees throughout the class on your computer or smartphone. This live event will be recorded, in case you are unable to attend all of the classes. All registrants have the option to receive weekly emails throughout the series with helpful resources.

Eight-week class itinerary (subject to change):

  • Introduction, part 1: Identifying foods that help blood pressure, diabetes, and weight
  • Introduction, part 2: Understanding nutrition labels
  • Meal planning and shopping
  • Restaurant carryout and fast food
  • Addictive foods
  • Supporting food choices as a household
  • Review of diabetes and blood pressure key takeaways

This class does not include in-depth cooking instruction. We will direct you to complementary resources throughout the class.

Disclaimer: A healthful diet can improve the underlying conditions that contribute to a greater risk for COVID-19, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, but this is not a substitute for medical advice.
