Event Description

Compassion Con 2019 is a one day celebration of plant powered, vegan living.

Compassion Con will be held at Kwantlen University in Surrey, on January 31st 2019.  It will feature local plant-based venders, informative lectures, cooking demonstrations along with free product samples, fashion displays, and several advocacy groups. Compassion Con is being sponsored by the Vancouver Humane Society and the Kwantlen Students Association.

Compassion Con is intended to share the sustainability, health, and animal rights benefits of veganism. Let's Be Compassionate hopes to get more of the KPU community involved in the vegan lifetyle. The Let's Be Compassionate Club is a student run animal advocacy group that encourages students to transition to a plant-based lifestyle. We advocate for animal rights, share information on environmental issues related to animal agriculture, ethics, and the nutritional benefits of plant powered living.  Last semester, we did 5 days of campus outreach, 4 with video, and a club’s day event.

Compassion Con was inspired by the recent Veg Expo hosted at Capilano University where vendors, speakers, and attendees experienced the first Canadian post-secondary expo focused on plant-based living. Compassion Con is 100% vegan and committed to that.  We would love to have you at the event. This is a free event and we are expecting a great turn out as there is a growing community of plant-based consumers and businesses in Surrey, which has a significant number of vegetarians, vegans, and plant curious individuals.  Each year, approximately 20,000 students are enrolled at Kwantlen University.
